I was bowled over when I saw my first quilts at the American Museum in Bath though it took me another 20 years to have a go myself though I was soon addicted to both piecing and quilting. For me patchwork provides me with an opportunity to play with design and colour. I also enjoy constantly challenging myself to be more accurate and to try out new techniques. Increasingly I am drawn to making contemporary, improv and modern quilts.
Discovering quilting was a real light bulb moment in terms of how it changes a quilt top into a quilt. How I quilt, whether by hand, domestic machine or on my long arm is very much driven by the quilt itself and what it says to me. Quilting for others is both a pleasure and a priviledge.
I strongly believe the world would be a better place if everyone quilted! So I find teaching workshops particularly for beginners and encouraging fellow quilt makers very rewarding.
